Functionality or Aesthetics?

One of the biggest challenges that kitchen designers and homeowners face when designing a kitchen is deciding what is more important, the aesthetics of the space or its functionality. A certified kitchen designer will tell you that a well designed kitchen needs to have a good balance of both; a good balance equals a good design. A kitchen that is aesthetically pleasing but is not functional is useless. On the flipside, a kitchen where no aesthetics have been applied, such as the laws of symmetry or color, but is completely functional, is not considered a good design either. Continue reading
